For a beginner in the spiritual path, a Guru is necessary. To light a candle, you need a burning candle. Even so, an illumined soul alone can enlighten another soul. Some do meditation for some years independently. Later on, they actually feel the necessity of a Guru, They come across some obstacles in the way. They are unable to know how to obviate these impediments or stumbling blocks. Then they begin to search for a Master.
358. The water becomes calm - Sri Anandamayi Ma
"Water inside a pitcher noisily moves to and fro when the pitcher is disturbed. But as soon as the pitcher is placed in a position of equilibrium, the water becomes calm. Similarly, sit for long in a steadfast posture with your mind concentrated on one fixed thought or aim, the restlessness of your mind will be slowly subdued."
"The man who has seen God becomes like a child. He is beyond the three gunas; he is unattached to any of them. He behaves like a ghoul, for he maintains the same attitude toward things holy and unholy. Again, like a madman, he sometimes laughs and sometimes weeps. Now he dresses himself like a dandy and the next moment he goes entirely naked and roams about with his cloth under his arm. Therefore he seems to be a lunatic. Again, at times he sits motionless like an inert thing."
"Every Child is a great hope of the future. But today most of our children indeed grow in the middle of opportunities but are caught up in confusions about their future. Eventually lack of Confidence distracts the mind from the main stream of the life and ultimately leads to frustration and behavioral changes."
"In an aerial view of the world, there are no disquieting mental agitations, because in that vision of Oneness, little differences of opinion about a boundary line with a neighbor pale into insignificance. Similarly, when a spiritual aspirant raises himself into greater ambits of spiritual vision, his mind can no longer entertain any agitation at the ordinary levels of likes and dislikes."
