294. Loving Heart with His Nature - Swami Chinmayananda

Image
28/02/2017. Neither learning nor tapas, nor meditation, nor chanting of the Holy Name, nor service of fellow men leads quickly to God. God allows Himself to be captured by a loving heart. For He is the nature of ineffable Love. Cultivate love and you will become one with His nature. He cannot hide Himself any longer. So pray each day: - "I want not wealth or fame nor earthly greatness. Grant me, O Lord, pure love and devotion for Thy Lotus-feet!

293. THE MYSTERIOUS MIND - Swami Chidananda.

Image
28/02/2017. The faculty of the mind is the greatest gift that God has bestowed upon the individual soul. There is no gift greater than this. Human nature consists of the mind, but unfortunately, the mind can be the greatest single curse as well. This paradox is one of the greatest mysteries of life. Everyone knows from experience how the mind can plague man at the pinnacle of God's creation and is indispensable to his life in this framework of earthly existence.

292. Delusion - Swami Krishnananda.

Image
28/02/2017.  When Maricha cried out: "O Lakshmana, O Sita," Sita mistook it for Rama's voice. She could not identify Rama's voice as different from that of another, though she had lived with Rama for so long. So is the case with the Jiva. It has forgotten its association withthe Absolute and cannot distinguish the call of the Spirit from the clamours of the senses. This is called delusion.

291. Life is not a pleasure-garden - Swami Sivananda.

Image
28/02/2017. Life is not a pleasure-garden in which you relax in comfort, and its value is not to be measured by luxuries that you crowd into it. Life has to be measured by the sacrifices you have made, by works of charity and thoughts and feelings of universality and unity, by the depth and sincerity with which you have acted thus in the world. Live to love, and love only God even in this creation.

290. SAYINGS AND UTTERANCES - Swami Vivekananda.

Image
28/02/2017. "At the head of all these laws, in and through every particle of matter and force, stands One through whose command the wind blows, the fire burns, the clouds rain, and death stalks upon the earth. And what is His nature? He is everywhere the pure and formless One, the Almighty and the All Merciful. Thou art our Father. Thou art our beloved Friend."

289. In Maharshi's Gospel - Sri Ramana Maharishi

Image
28/02/2017. All unhappiness is due to the ego; with it comes all your trouble. What does it avail you to attribute to the happenings in life the cause of misery which is really within you? What happiness can you get from things extraneous to yourself? When you get it, how long will it last?

288. I swore - Sri Aurobindo.

Image
28/02/2017. “I swore that I would not suffer from the world's grief and the world's stupidity and cruelty and injustice and I made my heart as hard in endurance as the nether millstone and my mind as a polished surface of steel. I no longer suffered, but enjoyment had passed away from me.”

287. Formalities and essentials of religion : Sri Ramakrishna said:

Image
28/02/2017.  "When, hearing the name of Hari or Rama once, you shed tears and your hair stands on end, then you may know for certain that you do not have to perform such devotions as the sandhya any more.  Then only will you have a right to renounce rituals; or rather, rituals will drop away of themselves.  Then it will be enough if you repeat only the name of Rama or Hari, or even simply Om." Continuing, he said, "The sandhya merges in the Gayatri, and the Gayatri merges in Om."

286. Sri Sri Ravi Shankar

Image
19/02/2017. If too many desires come in your mind, or too much restlessness and agitation then food, atmosphere and association have been the cause.

285. Sri Satya Sai

Image
19/02/2017. “Everyone has a mother as the source of his life and body. So the mother has to be strong in mind and body, steeped in culture and good character, sanctified by holy thoughts and full of love and dedication. Good mothers make a good nation. They have to be repositories of Thyaga, Yoga and Bhakthi (Detachment, Discipline and Devotion). Every activity of theirs must be prompted by these three cardinals,”

284. Sri Anandamayi Ma

Image
19/02/2017. The distress that is experienced burns to ashes all pleasure derived from worldly things. This is what is called ‘tapasya’. What obstructs one on the spiritual path bears within itself seeds of future suffering. Yet the heartache, the anguish over the effects of these obstructions, are the beginning of an awakening to Consciousness.”

283. Swami Udit Chaithanya

Image
19/02/2017. Once we realize that there are patterns of waste and negative thinking at some times during the day, which are usually triggered by certain situations or people, we can apply a brake on the pattern of habitual negative thinking, thereby transforming this energy wastage into something more positive.

282. Swami Chinmayananda

Image
19/02/2017. Bhakti is the attitude of the mind, and jnana is the attitude of the intellect; both flow towards the LORD.

281. Swami Krishnananda

Image
19/02/2017. Krishna was a person of great enjoyments. Vasishtha was devoted to rituals. Janaka was a king. Jadabharata was looking like an idiot. Suka was renowned for his dispassion. Vyasa was busy in teaching and writing .But all these are regarded as equal in knowledge. Different forms serve different purposes, but their essential being is one.

280. Swami Sivananda

Image
19/02/2017. Just as the light is burning within the hurricane lamp, so also the Divine Flame is burning from the time immemorial in the lamp of your heart. Close your eyes. Merge yourself within the Divine Flame. Plunge deep into the chambers of your heart. Meditate on this Divine Flame and become one with the Flame of God.

279. Swami Vivekananda

Image
19/02/2017. A tremendous stream is flowing toward the ocean, carrying us all along with it; and though like straws and scraps of paper we may at times float aimlessly about, in the long run we are sure to join the Ocean of Life and Bliss.

278. Sri Aurobindo

Image
19/02/2017. “When I had the dividing reason, I shrank from many things; after I had lost it in sight, I hunted through the world for the ugly and the repellant, but I could no longer find them.”

277. Sri Ramana Maharishi

Image
19/02.2017. "In fact, there may not be any individual in the world possessing all the qualities of perfection necessary for a seeker as mentioned in the Yoga Sutras etc, but the pursuit of atma jnana should not be abandoned."

276. Swami Chinmayananda

Image
12/02/2017. Man compromises with his *ideals* only under the pressures of his own selfish *desires* and *passion* for possessing more, for gaining more and for grabbing more. If one is dedicated to one’s duty and determined to *sacrifice* everything in order to uphold what he believes in, no amount of outside pressure can ever affect such a *noble* one.

275. Satya Sai.

Image
12/02/2017. Women must emerge from this college armed with deep rooted virtue and firm faith in the ideals of womanhood laid down in our sacred texts. Then only can they, as mothers, mould their children as bright, beautiful, virtuous and strong citizens of the world.

274. Sri Sri Ravi Shankar

Image
12/02/2017. Peace is your very nature. Peace is your innate nature; it cannot go away from you. That’s why it means so much to be at peace with oneself. We feel that we want to be at peace with ourselves. You are peace.

273 ~ Sri Anandamayi Ma.

Image
12/02/2017. Whether you worship Krishna, Kali, Christ or Allah, you actually worship the one Light that is also in you, since It pervades all things. Everything originates from Light, everything in its essence is Light.

272. Swami Udit Chaithanya.

Image
12/02/2017. One of the most incorrect beliefs that we have acquired since childhood is that to worry is to care, worrying is caring. Worry is fear or anxiety and care is love or concern, they are two opposite emotions which can never exist together at the same time.

271. Swami Krishnananda.

Image
12/02/2017.     "Man proposes; God disposes," says an old adage. It does not mean that God is perpetually opposing whatever man does. What really happens is that when man exerts through his egoism in a manner which violates the eternal law of God, he naturally feels frustrated, being beaten back by the law of Truth.

270. Swami Sivananda

Image
12/02/2017. Give up all sorts of fears, worries, anxieties and cares. Do not be disheartened by failures and setbacks. Draw strength and courage from God dwelling in the chamber of your heart. Pain is the best thing in the world. It is an eye-opener. It awakens your dormant faculties. Never forget this.

269. Sri Aurobindo

Image
12/02/2017. The spiritual life (adhyatma-jivana), the religious life (dharma-jivana) and the ordinary human life of which morality is a part are three quite different things and one must know which one desires and not confuse the three together.

268. Swami Vivekananda

Image
12/02/2017. Above all, beware of compromises. Hold on to your own principles in weal or woe and never adjust them to others fads through the greed of getting supporters. Your Atman is the support of the universe whose support do you stand in need of.

267. Sri Ramana Maharishi

Image
12/02/2017. BLISS (Sukam) ============ Bliss is nothing but the experience of "I-I". This is within us only. Due to ignorance, we are all searching for it outside and without rest we are running here and there. It is like some one telling that he has no tongue. How can a tongue less person say that he has no tongue?

266. Swami Chinmayananda

Image
05/02/2017. No judgement of the world outside can be true unless we eliminate our selfish ego from our hearts. By rising above our own ego alone, can we correctly discriminate the world of happenings around us, from universal standards of values, and from righteous ideals of an equally universal norm of vision. This true judgement through right vision is always impossible without surrendering our ego, and positively rising above its enslaving shackles.

265. Satya Sai

Image
05/02/2017. “Women have a very crucial role in individual and social uplift. They are the makers of the home, the nation and the world. They are the mothers who shape the generation to come. So, they must enshrine in their hearts the spiritual urge towards Light and love, wisdom and bliss.”

264. Sri Sri Ravi Shankar

Image
05/02/2017. Look at the events come, pass and go. According to their own law of karma, both pleasant and unpleasant events come and pass through you.

263. Anandamayi Ma

Image
05/02/2017. To a human being the most noble, irreproachable line of conduct should alone be acceptable. It is a matter of great rejoicing if anyone strives to mold his [her] life upon this pattern.

262. Swami Vivekananda

Image
05/02/2017. Brave, bold men and women, these are what we want. What we want is vigor in the blood, strength in the nerves, iron muscles and nerves of steel, not softening namby-pamby ideas. Avoid all these. Avoid all mystery. There is no mystery in religion.

261. Swami Udit Chaithanya.

Image
05/02/2017. Life is short. So why not enjoy each day with your parent, your spouse, your office friend, your mother-in-law, whoever it may be. They all matter to you and you all matter to them. So cherish their blessings by sacrificing the Ego.

260. Swami Krishnananda.

Image
05/02/2017. Man's conscience in its essentialist is not an accomplice of harm and injury being done to anyone. It is necessary for the evil one intending to destroy others to destroy his own conscience first. The self of the killer is killed much before the act of killing takes place.

259. Swami Sivananda

Image
05/02/2017. Not by mere argument or discussion can religion be taught. Not by precepts or moral canons alone can you convert a person to be religious. Not by pointing to your loads of sacred literature or the miracles of your Chief can an aspirant be won over. Practice religion and live upto its teachings if you want to evolve and attain the Goal of Life.

258. Sri Ramana Maharishi

Image
05/02/2017. "If the root cause of desire is discovered, there won’t be any bondage. That root is the Self. If one knows one’s Self, whatever desires may come or go, they will not worry one,” said Maharishi
