29/01/2017. In the Bhagavad-Gita, the #Lord confesses: “Those who pray to Me, in them I #live and in Me they live.” When an individual starts with a spirit of total #surrender, praying to his Lord, #devotion of its own accord comes to manifest in his #heart. When the #emotion of devotion increases, the devotee’s #personality and the #infinite nature of the Lord become One. In short, #prayer is the spring-field for all devotion.

29/01/2017. To experience peace, we need to concentrate on it – concentration means creating thoughts about it and visualizing it at the same time. Secondly to get peace, we need to separate ourselves from our body and surroundings.

29/01/2017. “Women have a very crucial role in individual and social uplift. They are the makers of the home, the nation and the world. They are the mothers who shape the generation to come. So, they must enshrine in their hearts the spiritual urge towards Light and love, wisdom and bliss.”

255. Sri Sri Ravi Shankar

29/01/2017. Despite being amidst all pleasures and worldly things, one is completely untouched, untainted and unstained by the events and happenings.

29/01/2017. So long sa one believes that true happiness can be had in this world without searching within, one will remain in bondage.

253. Swami Chidananda

29/01/2017. When the observer is himself involved in the subject of his study, his results are bound to be incomplete and colored, because he himself becomes a factor in that thing he tries to study.

29/01/2017. The Mahabharata says that the Vedas are afraid of  him who tries to approach them without a knowledge of the correct import of the Epics and Purana-s. Here is a covert suggestion that the Absolute of philosophy should also include the variety and conflict of practical life, in order to be real and not merely an object of speculation.

251. Swami Sivananda

Image
29/01/2017. Life is the soul's vehicle, for the soul's evolution. Life's worth and glory depends not upon the number of years you have lived on earth, but upon what you have made of it, how well you have utilized it for the purpose of the supreme aim of rediscovering Eternity, how you thought and felt and acted on earth. If, when the present span of life is about to be closed, your balance sheet shows that you have given more than you have received, and you have added to your spiritual assets, indeed you have lived well.

250. Sri Aurobindo

Image
29/01/2017. “As in all infant sciences, the universal habit of the human mind - to take a partial or local truth, generalise it unduly and try to explain a whole field of nature in its narrow terms - runs riot here (in psychoanalysis). Moreover, the exaggeration of the importance of suppressed sexual complexes is a dangerous falsehood.”

29/01/2017. Face the brutes. That is a lesson for all life ”face the terrible, face it boldly. Like the monkeys, the hardships of life fall back when we cease to flee before them.

248. Sri Ramana Maharishi

Image
29/01/2017. Distracted as we are by various thoughts, if we would continuously contemplate the Self, which is Itself God, this single thought would in due course replace all distraction and would itself ultimately vanish; the pure Consciousness that alone finally remains is God. This is Liberation.

Sri Sarada Devi 29/01/2017. If you want butter, you must let the milk turn to curd. It must be left in a quiet place. When the milk becomes curd, you must work hard to churn it. Only then can you get butter from the milk.

21/01/2017. "Religion" helps us to keep our 'intellect' alert and apply its faculty of 'discrimination' to the choice of right 'action' at every moment of our life. Being guided by proper discrimination, such actions become 'dynamic' and 'productive' and they bring about 'peace' and 'cheer' in "society".

245. Swami Chidananda

Image
21/01/2017. If you do not fill the mind consciously with deliberately chosen thoughts, then it will always fill itself with its own wayward thoughts, and that will be allowing the mind to grow wild, as it were, into its own self-willed nature. Selective thinking is the key to the problem of mind control. Discriminative thinking is the essence of mind control.

244. Swami Krishnananda.

Image
21/01/2017. The more does one become fit for the practice of Advaita Vedanta, the less is the consciousness of the body and world around. Advaita and body-consciousness do not go together.

243.. Sri Ramakrishna

Image
21/01/2017. One should pray to God, establishing with Him an appropriate relationship. Hanuman's love for God was mixed with knowledge; but Narada's love for God was pure and unadulterated.

242. Sri Ramana Maharishi

Image
21/01/2017. The purpose of worshipping the Impersonal Supreme Being is the incessant remembrance of the truth that you are Brahman.

241. Swami Sivananda

Image
21/01/2017. One needs physical, mental and inner spiritual strength at all times. One needs inner strength especially during the time of some disturbance, agitation and confusion. In reality you are the soul. Repeat the Lord's invincible Name at all times with faith and devotion. This will give you strength.

240. Sri Aurobindo

21/01/2017. When mind is still, then truth gets her chance to be heard in the purity of the silence.”

239. Swami Vishnudevananda

21/01/2017. "The mind can never be satisfied. It always wants more."

238. Swami Udit Chaithanya.

Image
21/01/2017. God is a beautiful living energy with a heart and all that we have to do is love Him with a pure heart and He will fill our life with happiness and make all the different aspects of our lives, full of success and our lives will become an inspiration for others.

237. Swami Vivekananda

Image
21/01/2017. As soon as you know the voice and understand what it is, the whole scene changes. The same world which was the ghastly battlefield of maya is now changed into something good and beautiful.

236. Swami Chinmayananda

Image
15.01.2017. The self-effort initiated and performed in the past becomes in due time the destiny (prarabdha) of the present. Thus the present was carved by our thoughts and actions in the past. If the present is ordered by our past, the logic being consistent, the activities initiated today will yield their fruits in the future; that is, the self-effort of today will mature as the destiny of tomorrow.

235. Sri Ramakrishna

Image
15.01.2017. It is vijnana, special Knowledge of God. To know many things is ignorance. To know that God dwells in all beings is knowledge. And what is vijnana? It is to know God in a special manner, to converse with Him and feel Him to be one's own relative

234. Sri Ramana Maharishi

Image
15.01.2017. "...Some people give vent to their happiness by loudly expressing it when they get a vision of God, and some shed tears of joy. It was the same with Ramakrishna Paramahamsa. ‘Mother, how kind of you; how merciful!’ he used to say and weep, and sometimes he used to laugh. Anyway, if we want to know about his real state, we should first know about our own state,”

233. Swami Vivekananda

Image
15.01.2017. You must avoid excessive merriment. A mind in that state never becomes calm; it becomes fickle. Excessive merriment will always be followed by sorrow. Tears and laughter are near kin. People so often run from one extreme to the other.

232. Swami Sivananda

15.01.2017. God is your light. He is your guide. Remember Him at all times, whether it be in pleasure or in pain. He will cheer you up. He will come and save you from all trials and difficulties as He saved His devotees. He will give you light, love and wisdom. He is waiting with open arms to receive you and grant you peace.

231. Swami Vishnudevananda

Image
15.01.2017 "My energy is like that of a volcano - a spiritual volcano. A volcano is never extinct, though it may be temporarily inactive. That's what the Lord said to me; He's not going to keep me as a recluse. My energy always bounces back."

230. Sri Aurobindo

Image
15.01.2017. The religious life is a movement of the same ignorant human consciousness, turning or trying to turn away from the earth towards the Divine, but as yet without knowledge and led by the dogmatic tenets and rules of some sect or creed which claims to have found the way out of the bonds of the earth-consciousness into some beatific Beyond. The religious life may be the first approach to the spiritual, but very often it is only a turning about in a round of rites, ceremonies and practices or set ideas and forms without any issue.

229. Swami Udit Chaithanya.

15.01.2017. Many a times, it’s not about making the effort to change others but it’s changing yourself which brings positive results because it is your change which inspires others to change. Remember everyone will not act or behave as we want and sometimes it can be difficult to cope with this but if we remain determined in our positive behavior and change, they will, after seeing our change, over a period of time, begin to realize their mistakes and become the way you expect them to be.

228. Swami Krishnananda.

Image
15/01/2017. Material amenities and economic needs and the satisfaction of one's emotional side are permissible only so long as this law and order of this eternal truth of the liberation of the Self in universality of being regulates their fulfillment.

227. Swami Chidananda.

Image
15/01/2017. May we progress towards the Goal each hour, minute and second to unfold and express our Divinity! May divinity be our keynote! Let us try to express and manifest this divinity every moment. May all the powers at our command be directed towards this one ideal of making our inner truth, our essential nature, our true identity! Live in such a way that you may emerge out as a shining, radiantly divine, perfect and liberated soul.

226. Anandamayi Ma

15/01/2017. He Himself kindles the sense of want in you by granting you a small thing, only to whet your appetite for a greater one. This is His method by which He urges you on. The traveler on this path finds it difficult and feels troubled, but one who has eyes to see can clearly perceive that the pilgrim is advancing.

225. Sri Mata Amritanandamayi Devi.

Image
15/01/2017. One cannot afford to deny or ignore spiritual principles. You cannot hope to have peace and joy in your life if most of your day’s activities cause disquiet and unrest. If you want to have peace and joy all the time, you have to orientate your life towards this goal. This may appear to be an insurmountable feat, but one can reach the heights of spiritual bliss by taking one step at a time.

224. Sri Sri Ravi Shankar

Image
15/01/2017. In your true nature, you are free the moment you see it’s not in you. If you have a pain, observe it’s happening in the body. If there is tightness or joy in your mind, observe that it is tight, sad, unhappy or happy. Just observe that you are not enjoying, and it is happening elsewhere, as though it is happening elsewhere.

223. The ideal for women - Sri Sathya Sai

Image
15/01/2017. “Women should live up to the ideal of a faithful wife and a loving mother. According to the Indian belief and ideals of marriage, husband and wife form the right and left halves of the same body respectively; they are complementary parts of the same unit.”

222. Swami Chinmayananda.

Image
08/01/2017. "Character is formed from the repeated choice of thoughts and action. Make the right choice-we shall have a firm and noble character."

221. Swami Udit Chaithanya.

Image
08/01/2017. One who dwells upon the Divine for any undertakings will have truth and integrity in their thoughts, words, actions, values, and beliefs. Onam reminds us of an era where there were no theft, deceit, false words or promises. Inner awakening to the Divine made the King Mahabali truthful.Let this 8th day of Onam makes us more truthful to ourselves and to others!!

08/01/2017. "Yogis should be able to affect their physical circumstances; their minds should be strong enough to make so called 'miracles' happen."

219. Swami Krishnananda.

Image
08/01/2017. When senses trouble you, remember the sages Narayana and Nara. They are the supreme masters over the senses, before whom Indra had to bow his head in shame.

218. Swami Sivananda

08/01/2017. God is your light. He is your guide. Remember Him at all times, whether it be in pleasure or in pain. He will cheer you up. 08/01/2017. “There is nothing mind can do that cannot be better done in the mind's immobility and thought-free stillness.

216. Swami Vivekananda

Image
08/01/2017. "I do not want to get material life, do not want the sense-life, but something higher." That is renunciation. Then, by the power of meditation, undo the mischief that has been done.

215. Sri Ramana Maharishi.

Image
08/01/2017. If the beginningless, impure vasanas that remain as the cause for waking and dream leave and perish, the state of sleep [previously perceived as] void-like and dull, and which led us into a state of ignorance and suffering, will become the transcendent state of turiya.

214. Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa

Image
08/01/2017. Everything depends on God's will. What can a man do? While chanting God's name, sometimes tears flow and at other times the eyes remain dry. While meditating on God, some days I feel a great deal of inner awakening, and some days I feel nothing.
